The Congress of National Open University of Nigeria Students (CoNS) set to organize online lectures for students studying in the institution.


This was contained in a memo signed by the CoNS President, Comrade Abolore Rukayat Busari, and released on Friday, (11th August 2022) to the NOUN student's weekly BULLETIN.


The memo reads "As the new semester commenced, We wish to inform the National Open University of Nigeria Students that the office the President of CoNS, has approved and Will be organizing online lectures for all students of different departments. 


"Sequel to the above, we are seeking volunteers among the students who are committed and ready to join other available facilitators voluntarily in providing quality and sound teaching to other students".


"This initiative requires a sufficient workforce where every volunteer will contribute 3 to 4 hours per week", it added. 


The memo says the National President would be most grateful if students will respond to this request quickly to assist in this charitable project. 


While looking forward to the prompt and affirmative response, it asked interested volunteers to kindly contact the President on 08163063340.

An independent student body of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), the Congress of National Open University of Nigeria Students (CoNS), has reaffirmed her stance to bring greatness and togetherness to the association through quality representation of the teeming students.


The National President of the

Association, Comrade Abolore Rukayat Busari, said this in an address to NOUN students made available to NOUN students weekly BULLETIN in commemoration of the year 2022 International Youths Day.


Comrade Busari implored NOUN students and Nigeria youths in general to stand for justice and fairness at all times, preach and practice peace, demonstrate patriotism at all levels, rescind nepotism and promote competence above all forms of sentiments. Adding that, "only then can we truly have the Nigeria of our dream".


The President, however, said the new administration of CoNS led by Comrade Abolore Rukayat Busari is committed to sustaining an open door policy that has already been established to include everyone in its movement for a better CoNS and NOUN at large.

The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Olufemi Peters, has commended the National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA) for its initiatives and implementation of laudable projects.


Peters said this during the unveiling ceremony of the Toyota Hiace Bus purchased by NOAA, which was held at the headquarters of the university in Abuja.


The Vice-Chancellor said the gesture by the NOUNAA makes it the first time in the history of the university where the alumni body would be making a handsome contribution to their Alma Mata. 


Professor Peters however stated that NOUNAA is well on its way to achieving one of its goals, which is to be an independent body.

The Director and staff of the Oka-Akoko Community Study Centre, Ondo State, have embarked on an advocacy campaign to Ikare-Akoko in the North-East Local Government Area of the state.


The Director, Dr. Olajide Oyadeyi, who led the team, took the campaign to some places including the African Church Diocese of Ikare and Idoani, the Area Commander’s Office of the Nigeria Police Force, and the Church of the Diocesan Headquarters of the Church of Nigeria, among others.


Addressing some elated members of the African Church Diocese of Ikare who appreciated the presentation with rapt attention, Dr. Oyadeyi explained that NOUN operates a distance learning programme designed to facilitate education for working-class individuals or people deprived of admission through JAMB.


He said, “that NOUN is a unique university that is a blessing to all who yearn for a quality education that is accessible, flexible, and affordable.”


The Director highlighted the various faculties and various programmes offered by the university, adding that the university’s programmes are duly accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and there is no discrimination against NOUN certificates.


He then implored them to avail themselves, their family memers, colleagues, and others to take the advantage of NOUN for their benefit and assured them of quality services by the desk officers.

The Federal Government has inaugurated a Presidential Steering Committee to review the disputed Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System(IPPIS), the Treasury Single Account (TSA), and Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS) over irregularities.


The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, who is also the chairman of the committee inaugurated it on Friday (12th August 2022) in Abuja.


Pantami said that the committee would be supervised by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, and other relevant government institutions.


He also said that the systems have technical challenges which needed to be corrected.
