An Open Letter to Hon. Victor Olojede,

*Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Students' Affairs*

Dear Hon. Victor Olojede,

I write to you as a concerned member of the FOSSU body, with a deep sense of responsibility and concern for the unity and progress of our beloved association. Over the past few years, your actions have continued to cause division within the national body of the Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU), a situation that has become increasingly alarming.

For many of us, we believed the crisis had been resolved, only for more troubling developments to emerge, multiple Senate Presidents releasing conflicting statements, factions rising, and confusion spreading among FOSSUites. Mr. SSA, I must ask: when will these divisive actions end? Is there a hidden benefit you're deriving from this chaos?

Please remember that your current office is temporary. Many others have held that same position before you with integrity and left it with dignity. That office should not be used to destroy the very structure it's meant to protect. It may interest you to know that a woman once held this same office and led with distinction, proving that leadership is not about position or power, but about service and unity.

Now, there are reports that both factions are planning separate conventions again, signaling the likelihood of having two Presidents and two Senate Presidents. Initially, I doubted the legitimacy of the faction led by Comrade Ashiru. However, after reaching out to past leaders like Olowo Eko and Isaac Ajadi, and reviewing credible evidence, it became clear that proper handover, swearing-in by the FOSSU Chief Justice, and constitutional procedures were followed in their emergence. Fossu properties were also handed over to them.

This raises a serious question: How did another group emerge?

As a unionist, I once viewed this as political gamesmanship. But it is now clear this situation is a deliberate attempt to sow confusion and weaken the association. With the current administration drawing to a close and transition approaching, I implore you to prioritize unity so that the next leadership can have full access to FOSSU properties and restore the association’s dignity.

Do everything within your capacity to reconcile both sides. Do not allow selfish individuals, those who will not stand with you when consequences come, to mislead you into misusing your power. Power is fleeting, but the name you build (or destroy) will remain. True leadership is seen in how you bring peace, not chaos.

To both factions: do not allow ego or external influence to prevent reconciliation. Governmental or personal power cannot erase the truth that your names, your actions, and your legacy are on the line.

*To Senator Ashiru and Senator Legacy:* Put aside your differences and come together. Do not allow personal interests or manipulation by leaders with hidden agendas destroy what has taken years to build. The association is bigger than any individual.

*To Comrades Olalekan and Ibrahim:* Beware of those feeding you with half-truths. They will disappear when the consequences arrive, and you will bear the burden alone. The choice is yours: reconcile, or become remembered for division.

This is a clarion call to all FOSSU stakeholders: now is the time to intervene. Let us all rise to protect the legacy we have labored for. Let history remember us as those who chose unity over division, truth over politics, and peace over conflict.

Respectfully,

A Concerned FOSSUite
