DISCLAIMER AND NOTICE TO ALL NOUN STUDENTS
The attention of the legitimate leadership of the Congress of National Open University of Nigeria Students (CONS), led by Comr. Daudu Ahemode Jeffrey, has been drawn to a purported notice of a “1st General Executive Meeting” currently being circulated by some individuals.
We wish to state categorically that the said notice is misleading, unauthorized, and the handiwork of impostors and charlatans who are bent on creating confusion within our noble Congress.
For the avoidance of doubt:
1. The only recognized and legitimate leadership of CONS remains the administration led by Comr. Daudu Ahemode Jeffrey.
2. The said group does not have the mandate of NOUN students and therefore cannot convene any meeting on behalf of the National Executive Council.
3. The legitimate leadership has already established contact with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oduma Oji Oduma, during his visit to the residence of former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at OOPL, Abeokuta.
Although the interaction was brief, discussions were centered on the welfare and betterment of NOUN students nationwide.
Further engagements will be formally communicated through the appropriate and recognized channels of CONS.
VACANT NATIONAL POSITIONS
Regarding the vacant national offices, the authentic leadership wishes to inform all students that:
I. A bye-election will be conducted in line with the constitutional provisions of CONS.
ii. The date and guidelines for the bye-election will be officially announced by the CONSEC Chairman.
Any process outside this framework should be considered null, void, and of no effect.
WARNING TO STUDENTS
We strongly advise all NOUN students to:
Refrain from paying money to any individual or group claiming to represent CONS outside the recognized leadership.
Note that such persons are fraudsters and will be exposed and dealt with in accordance with the law.
CONS remains committed to transparent leadership, constitutional order, and the protection of students’ interests nationwide.
Any official information will be communicated through the Office of the National President and verified CONS communication platforms only.
