The leadership of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Lagos State ably led Comr. Kareem Shakiru Olatunde, as part of her commitment to responsive and effective partnerships, on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, met with the Federal Radio Corporations of Nigeria (FRCN), Lagos Operations.
FRCN is a government-owned syndicated press outlet known for uplifting the people and uniting the nation. In Lagos, Bond FM (92.9), Metro FM (97.7), and Radio One FM (103.5) are all under the Radio Nigeria. The Bond FM is regarded as "the Grassroot Channel" because immediate societal issues are usually thoroughly and biased-free aired using inbred languages: Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and Pidgin. This is to welcome wider participation regardless of language differences. While no other radio station comes closer to Metro FM for music / entertainment, and specifically, a Youth-focused programme, the Radio One FM is second-to-none for its spine-tingling sports updates.
Welcoming us were the Director of Lagos Operations, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi (a very vibrant woman), the Deputy Director Radio One ICT, Alh. Ajanaku, the zonal head, the Radio One General Manager, the Head of Marketing Department, the broadcasters, and others. They appraised the leadership of the association for being distinct and having dignified younger minds who are ready to work closely with the government and organisations for the improvement of unversity education and communal growth.
To round it off, FRCN assures us of their readiness to walk and work with us for the actualisation of our realistic and sustainable blueprints, enhancing NAUS Lagos press visibility, internship and mentorship opportunities for promising individuals who have a flair for journalism, and others. Ending the session with an interview is a memorable experience. A big kudos to FRCN for giving us a warm hospitality. We are very much appreciative for the collaboration.
